INDOOR AIR QUALITY
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
CERL staff use a multi-disciplinary approach to IAQ problems which draws principles from such fields as engineering, chemistry, epidemiology and toxicology. CERL staff have inspected over 300 million square feet of building space in secure and open areas, public and private sector facilities, both occupied and un-occupied. CERL projects have been conducted in such facilities as mine sites, high-rise office buildings, lodging establishments, homes, power plants, fuel processing facilities, warehouses, schools and universities, hospitals, laboratories, airports, and many others. Services address the myriad factors which influence enclosed areas, such as `sick building' investigations, noise monitoring and control, hazardous materials and wastes identification and management, asbestos and lead management, radon monitoring and mitigation, biological monitoring and mitigation, rodent and insect harborage evaluations, HVAC evaluations and others.
Epidemiological surveys are used as part of the IAQ investigations to determine the type and frequency of complaints concerning the indoor environment. These IAQ investigations often stem from employee or resident complaints of allegies, general malaise, eye and/or throat irritation, and weakness which often improve after the individual leaves the subject area or building.
