| Provides an understanding of the methods and procedures for the cleaning and decontamination of areas or sites that have or are suspected of harboring CDC Class III or Class IV pathogenic bacteria, molds/fungi, viruses and rickettsia organisms (including Hanta V and Psittacocis) and their vectors. Requires a basic understanding of PPE selection and use, basic personal decontamination and site control. Previous attendance at one of the following is encouraged, but not required: 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations & Emergency Response or Asbestos Abatement Worker or Contractor/Supervisor. In addition to hands-on exercises, topics include: Introduction to microbiology Health risks & disease transmission Site evaluation & assessment Site containment & minimization methods & procedures Selection & use of disinfectant solutions PPE limitations, selection & use Decontamination of personnel & equipment Microbiological monitoring methods
