Provides an understanding of the methods and procedures for the cleaning and decontamination of areas or sites that are or are suspected of being contaminated by illicit drugs, sewage, bloodborne pathogens, or of harboring CDC Class III or Class IV pathogenic bacteria, molds/fungi, viruses and rickettsia organisms (including Hanta V, Psittacocis and Histoplasmosis) and their vectors. In addition to hands-on exercises, topics include: Terminology & Definitions Health risks & effects Disease transmission Introduction to microbiology Site evaluation & assessment Site containment & minimization methods & procedures Selection & use of disinfectant solutions PPE limitations, selection & use Decontamination of personnel & equipment Monitoring methods Others Course completion also provides certification for OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens.
